Peter coughs and ducks his head, veering his gaze away from the wall of toys. Oh, he can imagine it. “Ah, I see. Well... your wish is my command.” Peter releases Fiyero to gather himself and be bold enough to pick out a plug - he goes for an unassuming, black, soft-touch silicone toy in a modest size (the larger end of the range looks... scary). He turns back to the shelf, crouching down to pick a convenient bottle of accompanying lube. He shuffles through a few bottles until he finds a water-based one with no additional sensation effects or additives - again, something simple. Peter figures he'd offer, to give Fiyero the choice of whether or not he wanted to walk up with him to purchase the items. Peter will probably be hideously awkward about the purchase as well, but at least he's used to feeling supremely self-conscious, and is mostly resigned to it. For Fiyero, however, Peter can and will most certainly take the bullet.

It helps that Fiyero can talk very quietly and Peter can still hear it, and Peter keeps leaning in to say the most inappropriate things. It at least keeps the conversation private. Even if their proximity and the fact that they're talking so quietly while looking at this stuff probably implies something anyway. But honestly, it's not like this is a secret back-alley shop of illicit materials. The sexy stuff was visible from the street. Which means it's pretty normal, even if it's a little embarrassing.

He's glad that Peter took the encouragement to pick one - not just to help him out with decision paralysis, but also to make sure they're more or less on the same page here. Peter doesn't pick anything too intense, but also not the smallest sizes.

"You think we'll wait all the way till next payday?" Fiyero jokes right back. There's other things here he's very curious about - it just depends on how adventurous they are, and how quickly. If they keep up the pace they have so far, it's gonna get really intense very quickly. He would be worried it would turn into a thing where they just keep trying to up their game, that the more simple things would get boring - but he suspects it's just similar to their relationship overall. Fiyero evaluates the toy Peter picked, looking at the similar ones on the shelf. The bottle of lubrication is something Fiyero hadn't thought of - he is still very new to this - but which makes a lot of sense. That's also something he is familiar with from Oz. At least from hearing talk. People using oils of some kind. They haven't really needed it thus far, but-- yeah, he gets why that's necessary.

"It's alright, I'll come with," Fiyero answers, smiling fondly at Peter's offer. The lady chooses to work here, she probably doesn't care what random strangers choose to buy, and their purchase seems to be on the lower end of the kinky scale, just based on how much stuff is here.

They probably have enough to play with for now, but Fiyero takes a loop around another aisle they haven't looked at too closely anyway, just to check it out. (They haven't been to the clothes or the pictures in the back either, but Fiyero's less interested in that.) There is a display of things that seem to be mostly joke items? Dick-shaped candy and stuff like that, too funny to probably be supposed to be sexy. There's a bunch of little packets that say 'condoms', some that are apparently flavoured. "What are these?" he asks casually, still quiet. They're in a very non-scary section, so he doesn't feel too intimidated to ask.

"You don't think we can keep occupied with this?" Peter teases, holding up the ropes and the gag Fiyero selected. Fiyero's sense of adventure, always wanting to learn and try new things, to stay curious about the world around him - which is, admittedly, very foreign to him - is one of his many endearing qualities. It's not just with sex, but everything; although sex appears to quickly be taking a top spot as one of Fiyero's passions in life. Not that Peter is complaining.

Fiyero's right, though; Peter's not looking to intensify things just for the sake of it. He wants Fiyero to be happy, to get to try new things - but Peter would be very happy being with him without anything fancy for as long as Fiyero would have him. There will, undoubtedly, be something Fiyero doesn't like (is Peter thinking about what he would or wouldn't like? Not really, but just because he's not thinking about it doesn't mean that's not a possibility, too); but they'll deal with that together, too.

Peter coughs up a soft laugh when Fiyero swaps the simple plug with something a little more advanced - it's not too much of a price difference, and it has the option of the remote, vibration settings to choose from (both different pulses and intensity, hm). It's the pink gem set in the base that brings more color to Peter's cheeks, added as though a cheeky little flair to the toy.

Peter smiles back at him and nods, taking Fiyero's free hand again in his - and maybe he looks a little ridiculous, bags and sex toys bundled in one hand, all so his boyfriend's can be unimpeded in the other - but it can't be more ridiculous than the fondness in his eyes every time he looks at Fiyero. They meander to the next aisle, still looking at the colorful displays - a whole section of party supplies and gag gifts for bachelor/bachelorette parties, or just a funny birthday. The edible thongs are funny, dick-wrapping paper and cards aplenty.

Peter does stop when Fiyero points out the condoms close to the entrance to the cashier - she's reading a book, they haven't quite entered her customer activation radius. Peter spares a moment to pick out his size - they'll probably fit Fiyero too, who's a little thicker than him, yes, but not a whole size up thicker - because the ones he has languishing in his junk drawer are probably expired. He holds out the box to Fiyero to examine, leaning closer to murmur back to him.

"They're protection. Sex can transmit diseases just as easily as any other exchange of - bodily fluids. And for girls, it helps prevent pregnancy." Peter shifts his weight, feeling a little self-conscious, but there's more, of course, and it's important. "We don't have to worry about either of those issues; I can't catch or give you anything, and even if I could I - haven't been with anyone else in a long time. And you haven't either. But if say, we were two normal people who met somewhere random, I'd ask you to show me a clean bill of health before we - you know."

"We can still use condoms, though. They catch the... release." Peter leans in even closer, mostly so Fiyero doesn't see his nerves - though he can probably feel the heat from Peter's cheek at this proximity. "If we want to... you know if we don't want a mess when we... I mean, sometimes a mess is fun but not, ah, practical. It's good to have the option."

Fiyero's pretty sure they can keep plenty occupied without the stuff they've picked up here, or really anything at all. It's not like they've been lacking motivation to have sex. Just waking each other up with blowjobs or handjobs has been exciting. Adding little challenges. Trying new positions. Or just touching each other affectionately. Peter keeps being worried about having more than his fair share of orgasms, but Fiyero's nowhere near tired of watching him come. It only seems to make him hungry for more, really.

If he had more options, perhaps it would be a slightly healthier balance of activities. But as far as distractions and coping mechanisms go, this one seems pretty good.

It helps that he doesn't really need to worry about navigating this strange world in the process either. Even now, being introduced to all sorts of things, Peter is very patient and gentle, explaining everything, even if it makes him embarrassed. And Fiyero can tell the explanations do make him blush a little bit, but he very much appreciates them. As soon as Peter explains that it's protection against illness and pregnancy though, Fiyero understands. He's pretty sure they have that in Oz too, just perhaps not as readily available. Unless you're part of the sex worship cult, he supposes - a religion that Fiyero is suddenly seeing the appeal of.

"Well, it'll help with not having to do the laundry as much," Fiyero answers back playfully, grateful for the explanation and trying to lighten some of Peter's embarrassment in return. They're both sort of permanent pink at this point, but at least they're together in that.

They should probably stop shopping now though, before Fiyero's good sense calls it quits and he just starts picking up everything that looks interesting. He's still carrying the box for the anal vibrator, and he grabs the condoms from Peter as well, just so can take his hand again and lead the way over to the register. Fiyero's doing a pretty good job of staying nonchalant and giving the cashier a friendly smile as he starts stacking their purchases on the counter.

This is not an ideal life in a number of respects, but at least they're keeping occupied and finding joy where they can. Peter will make Fiyero safe... as soon as he can figure out how. The meeting tonight with Daredevil and Hawkeye should help... or so Peter hopes. Attacking an organization of this magnitude has been daunting every time he's tried (and every time, unimaginable loss follows...), but for Fiyero? So he can be safe, and if not returned home, at least free? Peter will move heaven and earth to make it so, or possibly die trying.

So if having sex - quite a lot of sex - is what makes Fiyero happy in this moment, far be it from Peter to argue. Certainly not when he's also benefiting, guilty though he may be in the back of his mind. If Fiyero had any interest in reading, or watching more movies, Peter would steer him towards that, too. But as soon as they can make it safe (as safe as it ever is, in New York) for Fiyero to get around unescorted, they'll do so.

And maybe if Fiyero gets some more mastery over his powers to the point of being able to defend himself on command - and Peter gives him a tracker, in case of snatching - maybe he will be able to go out on his own. During the day, at least. Being snatched once... Peter still doesn't know what they injected him with, what other horrors he would experience if they took him again. If Peter would ever even see Fiyero again if they did.

His hand tightens around Fiyero's at the very thought, and Peter consciously makes an effort to relax.

They carry their purchases up to the register, and Peter manfully disassociates as the cashier smirks without comment and rings them up. Rope, a ring gag, condoms, lube, and a vibrating butt plug do paint a certain picture - and from the look she gives the pair of them, Peter can't tell who she's picturing in which position. It's non-judgmental, of course, but it is knowing, and Peter hastily runs his card and scoops the bagged toys off the counter.

"Have fun boys," She calls after them as Peter tucks the bag into one of their other clothes shopping bags, the tips of his ears burning. The girl chuckles, returning to her book, and Peter can just hear her murmur, they're always so dramatic before the door closes behind them and cuts them off from the sex wonderland.

Fiyero would happily watch more movies, or silly shorter videos. But they need to actually do things as well, so when it comes down to prioritising what little spare time they have, well, it's difficult to see how anything would be more fun than sex. The only real exceptions is if he's simply not feeling up to it, for physical or emotional reasons.

Currently that's not a problem. Fiyero's got a pep in his step as they pay, the excitement winning out over the shyness. He even returns her well wishes with a cheerful "We will!" - although it may partly be to make Peter blush a little bit more. Not that it would take a lot for Peter to do the exact same thing to Fiyero.

Fiyero steals one of the bags of clothes so they can look less unbalanced, and each keep a hand free to hold each other's hands. It's less a challenge for Peter to carry the weight than it is about the impractical stack of bags. And Fiyero is plenty strong enough to help without issue. As long as it's clothes and not a billion books, he doesn't have any trouble.

"Anything else we need to get?" he asks cheerfully, voice returning more less to normal volume now they're out in a somewhat busy. "Because for some reason I'm really eager to get home right now," he continues playfully. Some more food, maybe? He can't think of anything else, but Peter is the one good at keeping track.

Peter shouldn’t be so surprised - wasn’t it like this, the first time he was with Gwen? Granted, they had a lot going on with school and giant lizards running amok - but the inability to keep their hands to themselves, the thrill that reaffirming their affection for each other gave them, over and over… Fiyero is bringing back feelings long since dormant, and experiencing them himself for the first time. Somehow, Peter is lucky enough to be the focal point of that desire, and while outside issues are maybe making sex more appealing than not… he thinks it’d probably be similar, either way, just from the new, exciting nature of it.

Peter folds their fingers together, letting Fiyero take one of the bags without too much protest - okay, maybe an amused hum. It’s not like it was troubling him, of course, but it probably does make them look a little less ridiculous. It’s just another one of those little acts of service that Peter does without thinking - and is surprised to find himself the recipient of, when Fiyero turns the tables.

“Can’t imagine what reason that would be.” Peter laughs and squeezes Fiyero’s hand, leading them down the rest of the street. “Do you have enough clothes? There’s one more place on the way we can hit, if there’s something else you need? And what do you want for dinner? There’s a dumpling place across from the hardware store, they should have vegetarian options.”

The hardware store would be their last stop, if they really did want to test the potential for tying Peter up. Aside from the obvious way that gets him hot under the collar - he’s kind of curious? In that abysmally nerdy, scientific way of his, Peter wants to know if it’s possible. If they could actually figure out a way to make him helpless… it’s a promising plan, all told.
