It certainly seems that way and hell, Peter doesn't exactly have any evidence to disprove it. Look at the state of his life, it's easy to see the carnage there. At times, the spiderbite has been more of a curse than a gift, and there's no drama to that, only truth.
"Guess they included our shitty coping mechanisms with the super strength for free, huh?" Peter jokes gently, because he can't not, and neither of them are alone in that. "I'm glad you're...finding your way through that."
The darkest of caves, and one that left a shadow on the soul. Stepping out into the sun to dispel it was easier said than done. Peter listens to the determination that solidifies in Gwen's voice, that little bit of iron that wasn't so different from his own Gwen - sharpened, honed maybe, but one and the same.
"Sounds like a load of bullshit to me," Peter agrees, eyes tightening at the idea of predetermination. It's dangerously close to the nihilism pit, too much so for his tastes; Peter's been guilty of falling into it himself. And if it is true - what, it's supposed to absolve them all of responsibility for their actions? It wasn't really their fault, not if fate had deemed it so? Like he said, bullshit.
