"Yeah, I definitely think you will." Peter smiled, pulling back enough to take Wade's hand and start leading him out of the apartment. He snatched the dip and flowers on the way out, pressing the flowers into Wade's other hand. "Best behavior, okay? No comments about my butt." Less because May would mind and more because Peter wouldn't hear the end of it from her for weeks.

Another skeptical look, but Peter wasn't going to press it at the moment. Wade was probably more nervous than he was letting on, and Peter wasn't going to pick apart his facade right before dinner. He squeezed Wade's hand, pulling him out into the hallway of their apartment building. Next time, Peter would have to have May over for dinner. Their shared apartment was in a nice enough area that Peter wasn't going to panic at the thought of May have to walk around at night (not that he wouldn't shadow her all the way home as Spiderman, but. It's the thought that counts).

The subway ride is quiet, but Peter keeps their hands interlocked the whole way, directing all of his restless energy into his bouncing leg. He can't tell what Wade is thinking, but honestly, Peter's sure if they can just get through the next few hours, they'll both feel a lot better. Peter directs them all the way out into Forest Hills, much closer to a suburb than they normally frequent, and he feels his cheeks heat up a little as they enter the familiar neighborhood. He doesn't know that much about Wade's past - the man just doesn't like to talk about it - but from what Peter can gather, it wasn't great. Not that he thinks Wade would judge him based on where he grew up or anything it's just...he's just going a mile a minute here, that's all.

They get off the subway and Peter leads them up to fresh air, a series of brownstones stretched out before them. May lives in something a little smaller, not quite as nice, and Peter quietly directs them down the block towards that area. "...you sure you're okay with this? Last chance to run screaming."
