When Wade gets home that evening, he'll find Peter literally crawling the walls. Literally. He's anxious, that much is obvious, textbook in one hand as he restlessly tries to find a comfortable position to read it in. No dice, and he keeps moving back and forth over the ceiling, trying each corner repeatedly.

"Hey Wade," Peter grumbles from above the door, nose buried in his book. It's right-side up to Wade, meaning it's upside down to Peter - poor guy. What even happened?

Well, it started with his weekly phone call to May. The whole thing is kind of Peter's fault, anyway. His Aunt had called, starting off the conversation casually, and had Peter been paying attention he would have noticed the fake sweetness in her voice that only rose to the surface when she was very, very angry.

"When were you going to tell me you'd moved out of your apartment?" May slipped the question in at the tailend of Peter detailing his woes over his history class. He'd frozen, falling from his perch on the edge of the kitchen chair he'd been twisted on. "Uh, what?"

This quickly devolved into May yelling at him for not telling her he'd moved - apparently, she'd found him out while trying to surprise him and take him out to lunch, and instead discovering a single mother in his old apartment.

Peter had tried to explain that he'd moved in with someone and he hadn't wanted her to worry he was actually in a much better part of town now, which sent her on another long-winded rant until Peter simply couldn't take it anymore and, well, exploded.

"Because we're dating!" At least that earned him a long moment of silence. There were many reasons, obviously, why Peter might not be comfortable telling May he was dating again - and it wasn't until after he'd hung up, after May had demanded Peter bring his new partner to dinner on Sunday - that he realized he hadn't exactly told her Wade was a dude.

How did this kind of crap always end up happening to him?

It had been a pretty long day. Wade spent most of it looking for some information on his current job. No, he didn't kill people anymore. But he did still do mercenary work. Wade was good at it and it paid a lot, so that was what kept him in the business. So he had spent the day working on his current assignment, trying to gather intel on a shitass politician for another shitass politician. Fun times. So when he got home, he was more than ready to curl around Peter and watch dumb stuff on Netflix for the rest of the evening.

Oh boy. Wade definitely noticed the anxiety in Peter. Usually it was more subtle than this, so there was obviously something pretty big going on. Fortunately, Wade was tall enough to reach Peter, even with their ceilings being pretty high for an apartment. So he reached up, hand sliding into Peter's hair gently and carding through the soft strands. "What's wrong, baby boy?"

Wade continued to pet his boyfriend in an attempt to help calm him. He looked up at Peter, one hairless eyebrow arched up at him. "Really? You're trying to read a book upside down, Pete. Come on." He kept his tone light though. Of course Wade was going to notice when Peter was anxious, even if it was only a tiny bit. And this was just screaming that something was going on.

Honestly, if Wade knew, he would have told Peter to call him home. Even though he knew Peter would never ask. Wade wanted to be there for him no matter what.

He blinked, hand still running through Peter's hair. "I'm completely free on Sunday, what do you have planned?" If he jumped just a little bit, he would totally be able to land a forehead kiss. He kept that in mind.

"I see..." Wade played along even though he knew that wasn't the case. He was still there for Peter though, giving him as much physical affection as he could when his boyfriend was plastered to the wall.

Wade's eyes widened to a nearly impossible degree. "Oh," the word was said in a grave manner. Like he had been given a death sentence instead of Peter announcing that his aunt had called. His eyes somehow got wider at that final mash up of chaos. "Oh. Well." That explained a lot.

Wade snapped out of his momentary panic when he realized that his reaction was making Peter's anxiety worse. His stomach was in knots, but he still smiled up at Peter. Now that he was all scrunched up, he was just out of Wade's reach. "It's okay, Pete. I understand." Wade honestly didn't expect Peter to tell anyone about him. What did that say about how Wade felt about himself though? "Hey, you should come down here so I can actually hold you, Petey Pie."

"I'm not going to lie, I am terrified at the thought of meeting your aunt because of how important she is to you, but I will definitely go. Now come down here so I can get some spidey snuggles." He waggled his eyebrows up at Peter, trying to distract his boyfriend from his anxiety by being an idiot, as per usual.

"I completely get it, Pete. You don't have to explain this to me, baby boy. I understand," he said, tone still soothing. May meant the world to Peter, so her opinion all this was very important. And the fact that Wade was... a dude was a pretty big deal. So he could understand the anxiety. "I'm glad that you took notice of my manliness, Petey." And Wade knew that Peter wasn't ashamed of him for some reason. It was that Wade was ashamed of himself. That was the kicker.

Wade curled his arms around Peter, pressing a kiss into his hair. "I know, baby boy. It's okay."

"I'm pretty fond of your manliness too, snookums," he said, voice a little tight from the squeeze. But he liked it. Wade was a weirdo like that. Any time Peter showed of his super strength, he was all about it.

Wade nodded, even if he was really anxious about the idea. "Yeah. I'm good. Honestly, I'm scared shitless, but this is important to you." He was just scared that his trainwreck of a face was going to cause issues and that was the last thing he wanted. Wade knew he wasn't good enough for Peter and the thought of someone so important to his boyfriend seeing that too was a scary thought.

Wade waggled his eyebrows suggestively. "You know it."

"Oh. Wow. I'm sorry, Pete. Why is she angry?" Now Wade was definitely worried. His anxiety ramped up a bit. Shit. But that anxiety was the last thing on his mind after Peter's question. He pulled Peter closer, giving his boyfriend a little squeeze himself and then letting go so he cup Peter's face so he could make eye contact. "Nothing is every going to change between us unless that's what you want. I'll be here as long as you want me, baby boy."

"Well, shit." Wade ran a hand over his scarred head as he exhaled. No wonder Peter was so nervous.

"It's okay, Pete. I'm here for you." It was hard to see Peter so worried about this. He couldn't even look Peter in the eyes after that though. So he stared at the ceiling as he looked up, trying to gather himself. How was this even possible? What did he do to deserve Peter? Wade exhaled again, looking back at Peter and giving a weak smile before pressing a gentle kiss to his lips. That was easier for him than trying to formulate words right then.

Wade accommodated, arms curling tighter around Peter, protectively. He understood why Peter did what he did. So he had nothing to say. Instead, he comforted Peter as much as he could.

"I know, baby boy." Wade broke out into laughter at all the apologizing. He kissed Peter's forehead. "It's okay. I think it's cute. You tend to do that when you're nervous." Peter was a very considerate person and Wade loved that about him. So no, the apologizing didn't bother him at all.

"Alright, baby boy." he smiled, nuzzling the top of Peter's head. "I'm sure things will turn out just fine and we're both anxious over nothing." Knock on wood. He hoped it was that way at least. For Peter's sake. "I don't see myself walking out though."

Wade wanted May's approval too, so he would be on his best behavior. The last thing Wade wanted was for Peter to have another stress in his life.

The kiss was comforting, causing Wade's eyes to close as he reveled in the feeling for a moment. "I know, Pete. I really want to meet your Aunt though. She is the most important person in your life. I'm just a little nervous about it is all." Wade never got to meet a significant other's family before, so this was brand spanking new for him. He hugged Peter close. "We got this."

He sighed. "Not as fruitful as I was hoping. I'll have to get up early and do another stake out. How about you? Other than the phone call?"

"At least the bandaid has been mostly ripped off now. I'm sure she'll understand after we go see her, baby boy." Especially when she saw Wade's face. Yup. He was feeling a little self-deprecating right now and having a hard time going down that usual spiral of self loathing. All of this was just drudging a lot of his insecurities up, even if he was trying to keep a brave face up for Peter.

"I know~," he said in an over-exaggerated whine. "I'm just impatient and I want this to take less time. I feel like I've been working on this job forever." His hand rubbed up and down Peter's back of its own accord. "That's good. Normal is better than crazy. To most people, at least," he joked.

"Yes, to the flowers. I think that's always a good idea," He pressed a kiss to Peter's temple.

"Yeah, yeah," his tone was still a little whiny. "If said celebration involves you getting naked, I'm all for it. Just sayin'." He sighed and moved over to flop down on the couch and then immediately open his arms toward Peter. Yes, Wade was sitting on the couch making grabby hands toward Peter. Maybe he was being a little over-exaggerated and goofy, but if that meant that Peter's mind was getting further away from those worries then Wade was happy. So he would make an ass of himself as per usual. "This is true. Your crazy days far outweigh the normal ones."

"Then daisies is what we'll get her," he smiled. Hopefully that would help lower her anger toward Peter. Wade was more worried about that than anything. He just wanted Peter to be okay.

"Oh, really?" Wade asked, hopeful. He was a horn dog. It was terrible. He blamed Peter for being so god damn beautiful and sweet and kind. It made his libido sky rocket even from where it already was. Wade always had a bit of an appetite. Wade curled around Peter like an octopus as soon as he got close enough. Hopefully some serious snuggling would help Peter's anxiety. "Pete! Why would you jinx yourself? We like quiet every once in a while," he pressed a kiss to his boyfriend's temple.

That's why they were a good fit. They matched each other like puzzle pieces. Though Wade would never admit that out loud. Even if it was what he felt. It would make him too vulnerable right then. But god damn did he feel it. Wade nuzzled Peter's jaw, arms wrapped snugly around his boyfriend. "We'll put it back together again. Remember when I accidentally ordered that crate of super glue off Amazon and you told me to return it and get my money back? About that..." There was a crate of super glue sitting in his closet right then. They could just... glue the city back together again. Sounded like a plan.

"It's going to be okay, Petey Pie," he said quietly, all the exuberance he had before now traded in for a much more calm, collected version of himself. "We'll figure out whatever's thrown at as." He added, even though he was honestly talking about what happened between Peter and May.

"I will never have a problem gluing my finished puzzles to frame them? I am officially the person to call if something gets chipped," Wade rambled a little, his brain flying through all the uses of super glue, but trying his best not to overload and let all of them come out. It finally felt like Peter was relaxing, so the last thing he wanted was to do something that jeopardized his lover's comfort.

There was no way to stop the smile that came to his face when Peter looked up at him. Christ. There went his thumping heart. All Petey had to do was look at him and he became a babbling idiot. It was ridiculous. "It's okay to worry, Petey Pie. Just know I'm here, okay?"

"Always and forever. Captain dork, at your service," Wade said as he grinned dopily. He froze at Peter's words though, mouth slackening into a look of utter shock. "Whaaaaaaat? Baby boy, you didn't!" Instantly the shock was gone and instead replaced with one of the biggest grins he was capable of. Peter knew him so well! "You know just what to say to make me happy, Snookums."

Wade gave Peter another comforting squeeze, his heart pounding a little harder at the sweet words. Peter was extremely good at making him feel like he was actually worth something. "Anytime, Petey Pie."
